I am currently sat here with stomach cramps after eating about a teaspoon of guacamole on some chilli this afternoon! It’s happened several times, but I was feeling ridiculous for thinking I could be intolerant to avocados. I hated them as a child and only started eating them recently. My first few times I was fine, I ate loads and really enjoyed it. However over the past year every time I’ve had even a tiny amount the same stomach cramps come back, lasting for hours. It’s really good to know I’m not going to sound completely ridiculous saying I’m intolerant to avocado! Thankfully I’m not allergic to the point of anaphylaxis, but this whole thing was more convincing for me because I noticed a long time ago that I was sensitive to latex too.
Thankyou and sorry for everyone else who have had symptoms to ruin their favourite foods, but at least we aren’t alone!

They didn’t even actually mention the Ark — it was just shown in passing. The alien was actually what they wanted to steal from the AFB, though now it’s been so long since I saw the movie that I can’t remember why they wanted it. The movie was definitely NOT as memorable as Raiders of the Lost Ark!

Oh my goodness! What a relief to know that I am not the only one!
People have always teased me about having reactions to banana and avocado and told me to harden up. My reactions get worse every time i eat them!
I had no problems eating them when I was a kid, but as I’ve gotten older I find that my throat, tongue, lips and the roof of my mouth swell up and I have trouble breathing. I dont get stomach cramps though… Its sad because I love avocado!!

Janis and Colleen, I’m sorry for your loss. I’m so sorry you were smacked by the tragedy of 9/11. I’m glad my tribute was able to give you some comfort and hope. She must have been an amazing sister-in-law and friend.

Trish was such a big part in my life and I miss my best friend terribly. Your tribute to Trish is something so very special. I know almost 7 years later the pain of losing such a wonderful person is still there, and coming across your blog gives, myself, a little hope that Trish will never be forgotten. Of course her family and friends could never forget such a wonderful soul but it’s the world that needs to remember the loss of Patricia Cimaroli-Massari.
A girl who loved to dance in the car when a good song came on, someone who loved to sing along with the music. A person that was more thoughtful then anyone I knew.
A woman who loved animals but hated bugs, an intelligent being who was wise beyond her age, someone who I’ll never forget..
I miss her still…

I first thought Indian when I read the ingredients too. I was thinking of some sort of dosa. I was distracted by whole wheat couscous being on sale….
I like how you stuck with it - even when your pan didn’t cooperate and I like the alternative recipe ideas at the end! Cumin is one of my fave spices.
I am so jealous of all of you who have csa programs. I walked over to my 100 year old leprechaun of a town councilor (who conveniently lives across the street) to ask if there was anything like that in our neck of the woods, but no… sniff.

I like the sound of the crunch of the breading!! Sure am going to check on the Spanish greens with chickpeas, those two are favorites of mine.
Paper Chef is always interesting!
